So when you say it’s a meme, do you mean that it’s just not good? But is it actually good? … It combines a Greatsword and a dagger and has a rather unique and pleasing move set as well. And how good is it in PvP? Also is the parry time closer to a small or medium shield, I can’t seem to get my parries down even though I was really good in DS1. Also I’ve heard that it’s “weapon art” is technically a parry, but since it’s bound to the Greatsword, does that mean you can parry with a greatshield? So I guess Wolf Knight may be what you're looking for if you want a more traditional greatsword style moveset. I use it for memes and PVE purposes, and against bosses with origins in the abyss. Side questions: Is Lightning Arrow still good or was the nerf too hard (mostly for PvE, but I'd like to know PvP viability too)? Joined: Sun May 01, 2016 12:10 am. Souls: 198.00 . I used for a whole NG+ playthrough. All the flips and combos, it just feels awesome to wield it. Farron Greatsword, how is it for PVP and PVE compared to others UGS ? Press J to jump to the feed. PvP is where this weapon lacks a little. farron is ez weapon for spacing I tried it, you can out space almost anyone, it like washing pool running R1 but more for spacing, and try to hit them with the dagger it punish anyone who tries to parry after attack(sometimes it will stagger them)and it good if hitting multi-enemy. Damage is competitive with most quality weapons but with less stat investment, and bleed is really good in pve. 0. Wolf knight Greatsword or Farron's Greatsword for pve? The FGS is a solid choice for PvE. Also, as much as I love it, it’s pretty hard to aim, even when locked on, although I’ve read it’s better if you don’t lock on. Quality is also the best damage you can get, although the difference isn't too great. While the flip attacks do solid damage, there is a large opening in between attacks. Sometimes you get lucky and can complete an L1 combo because of the unique hitboxes, but if the boss you're fighting really likes attacks with a vertical hitbox, you can only get away with one L1. As for the greatshield capability you would need to use a greatshield that allows you to use the weapon's WA. The parry timing is exactly the same as a medium shield, so it’s one of the smallest time windows. It was a disappointing not to have an aoe after a charged r2, I'm fine with the wa It wasn't ever, nor is it now, exceptional in PVP. Well Farron Greatsword is a dex weapon so it makes sense that it won't be good on a strength build, it's damage is great. For pve it's good except for a few bosses that resist magic. Lastly, the parry WA will use the dagger that comes with the sword and can only be performed if you 2-hand the waepon or have a WA-shield in your off-hand. The damage is good, I've tried it. Discuss the latest Dark Souls Title! Farron Greatsword is an Ultra Greatsword, so half its moves are kind of slow, the other half is a serious of swirling/running slashes/swings that makes it rather unique. I’m not even that great with it but it’s incredibly deadly even in my mediocre hands :), New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. I still need to test as well, but from what I can see it's always been exceptional for pve. Like it’s a joke to use it? Newbie #1. Best PVE greatsword/ultra want some suggestions... < > Showing 16-30 of 49 comments . I noticed it as scaling of D and C for str and dex, respectively. Most experienced PvP-players can and will parry the flip, and I´ve noticed that an increased number of players are willing and able to parry the 2nd L1 swipe already. If you plan on PvPing with it, then you want to be careful with the L1-combo. I really like how it and the Undead Legion Set look like and i've been thinking of making a build around them but i've heard that Farron Greatsword has really bad AR by UGS standards (especially in the endgame) and its unique moveset deals even less damage than its standard attacks. Fun, go with farron, good go with wolf. I'm aware, but subp's comment was a pvp based statement. I know it was always viable but how good is it now, especially on a quality build? I personally like the look of farron but the damage is so crap, and the only good move is the L2 spin to win move. Also, even though this is a Ultra Great Sword, since you only hold it with one hand you are always susceptible to parries. Is quality the most ideal or is 60 Dex better ? 1 . 228 Base with A Dex scaling. I'm new to this game, currently I'm going for a build with both strength and dexterity for my first playthrough . For, PvE, greatsword can be an amazingly good weapon, because of the many attributed mentioned above. Btw, I plan on trying PvP in the future but right now it’s just PvE that I’m talking about. Greatsword is found in the Farron keep, on the broken bridge section where you find the first brazier. I guess I could use some tips, because the attacks (notably the flip) seem to be precise, and is hard to control in terms of direction. The FGS is a solid choice for PvE. Thanks for any tips. My Lothric Knight Greatsword begs to differ, New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. the only special thing about the farron gs is its L1 moveset which is irrelevant for PvE. I find it a nice side piece to a rapier, not to mention it's moveset is quite nicely unpredictable. From adopted boss design from BB in DS3, so damage windows tend to be fairly punishing in DS3 (play DS1 again and you'll see what I mean). In pvp when the 1st L1 and second connects can leave your enemy with less than 1/4 HP ( depends on your build and their armor ). All the flips and combos, it just feels awesome to wield it. It's still a bad weapon in both pve and pvp and only good against lagging coopers/gankers. The Farron Greatsword is an ultra Greatsword especially good for quality builds. To be frank the stances are just not that good in pvp, (in pve the somersault is great at flattening enemies) if you play against a half decent player you will get a backstab. Note although it can be infused and buffed, this may not be a good option on a quality built. So the only thing it has going for it is the L1s. And the Greatsword isn't really that great, so that speaks volumes for the Farron. For pve the weapon is fantastic on a dex build, especially with another faster weapon you can switch between. It's just you have more control using other greatweapons since you don't break dance all over the place. I really don't like this in PVE, because the real power of Farron GS lies in the L1 attacks. Sorry for the many questions people but I can't play for a couple of days as I'm on vacation, so there's no way to test these things for myself. In pvp (duels), however, it's not very good because the damage isn't as good as, for example, a quality build with an astora greatsword, and the L1 can be sight parried fairly easily. 19. It gets a great scaling in dex if you upgrade it, A to be exact. The wolf sword is good all around and has good poise and regular damage!
